We spoke with the oncologist today. He's still waiting for the surgery report, but until then - the plans for chemo are; put a shunt (with a port) in on Sept 15 (bright and early - 6:30am!), so that chemo treatments can start on Sept 24. They'll be every two weeks for the first three months. Each 3-4 hour office treatment is followed by 48 hours with a pump (about the size of a baby bottle) at home.
Based on the CT scans, there is a 2 cm single mass in Judi's liver. The surgeon did reach in and feel Judi's liver during the operation, and she told me she felt something on the liver also. The oncologist stated that chemo would not eliminate that mass, but only shrink or arrest its' growth. At some point, the mass will need to be surgically removed.
Judi will be on a chemo cocktail (3 drugs) to start, then another will be added. That one denies blood flow to a tumor, and is not recommended until at least 6 weeks after surgery. Judi will get anti-nausea drugs before and during chemo, we'll see how effective that is :-)
Judi has nice thick hair. We're going to see how effective the chemo is there too. We're looking at head coverings for her. I'm thinking a "do rag" will be good enough for me (so we can match).
It's all starting soon, it must be real.

Chuck's mom & my cousin both had chemo and ordered a wig but rarely wore it, they said it made them too hot. They looked beautiful bald and wore scarves when they went out. They also both had ports and Chuck's mom bought a padded seat belt cover so it would not dig into her port when she was in the car. I think I remember they had to drink lots of water too. Both are cancer survivors and you will be too!

He is walking ahead of you, with you and behind you each and every step of this journey. I know your focus is on Christ and that your spirit is strong -- my prayer is that your body will be strong and respond positively to the chemo so you can witness to others about God's great healing!
