Judi was awake most of the day today. Her new roommate (another nice lady) washed her hair after we left last night, so she was feeling good about that. I forgot to mention yesterday that the epidural came out, which allowed the catheter to come out today. This gets her in and out of bed more often to use the bathroom. It's still quite a production as she now has two IV bags; one for fluids and one for a blood thinner to fight the blood clots and prevent more. An ultrasound this morning confirmed a blood clot in her left leg. The chest x-ray yesterday did show blood clots in her lungs.
I think the best part of her day was dinner though. She was told she would be able to have a creamy soup and pudding with her meal, and was looking forward to it. The disappointment on her face when broth and jello came :-(
So, we asked one of the great nurses (they're all wonderful) about it, and she went down and got a "full tray" for Judi. It included "cream of something" soup, another tea, and ice cream. Judi loved it - it was a long way from crushed ice and popsicles. It was great to see her enjoying a simple pleasure.
